Welcome to Hønen og Hanen – a restaurant with deep roots in Hønefoss' history and a new spring in the heart of the city.
Our history
Hønen og Hanen was for many years a well-known and beloved eatery in Hønefoss, known for its varied menu and pleasant atmosphere. Former owner Ivar Østlund fondly recalls the time when guests could enjoy good food at affordable prices.
In April 2025, Hønen og Hanen was reborn under the management of Khaled A. Mahmoud. The restaurant has moved into the former Pampas premises at Søndre Torv 4B, and has undergone extensive renovations to create a modern and welcoming atmosphere.
Our vision
We want to bring back the great atmosphere and tasty dishes that made Hønen og Hanen a favorite place for many. With a menu inspired by classic dishes and modern flavors, and with a focus on quality and service, we hope to create new memories for both old and new guests.
Visit us
You will find us in the heart of Hønefoss city center – in the newly renovated premises at Søndre Torv 4B. Hønen og Hanen has room for approximately 45 guests indoors and 15 outdoors, and we warmly welcome both small and large groups.
Would you like to reserve a table? On our website you will find a separate Reservation button in the menu. There you can easily choose between:
- Private reservation – for those who want a pleasant dinner with family, friends or your lover.
- Corporate/party reservations – for company events, birthdays, confirmations or other celebrations.
We recommend reserving a table in advance – especially on weekends and on larger occasions.
